Ofsted Inspection – September 2023

Ofsted is the UK’s official school inspectorate, responsible for evaluating schools to ensure high standards of education, safety, and care for all pupils. These inspections are key to ensuring parents and stakeholders can see how our school is performing.

Our most recent full inspection took place on 26 September 2023, and we were judged Good in all key areas

Key Strengths Noted by Ofsted:

  • Teachers provide a rich, well-structured curriculum that is both broad and ambitious. For example, reading and phonics are well organised—children quickly develop foundational skills.

  • Our foundational curriculum is thoughtfully sequenced. In subjects like maths and history, learning builds in small, meaningful steps, helping children retain knowledge and understanding.

  • Pastoral care is a real strength: children are happy, feel safe, and trust staff to support them. Our nurturing, experience-rich learning environment shines through.

  • Inclusivity is central: pupils with SEND are fully integrated and supported. Tailored plans enable all children to be included in learning and school life.

  • Leaders and staff are praised for their commitment to holistic care and continuous improvement. Governors provide strong oversight, and parents value the individual care given to each child.

Areas for Development

Our September 2023 inspection took place very soon after we had introduced our brand new, ambitious curriculum. Inspectors recognised the strength of our vision and the quality of our provision, but noted that, as with any new curriculum, some subjects were still embedding fully.

Specifically, Ofsted highlighted that:

  • In some foundation subjects, teachers were still refining how best to check what children remember over time.

  • A small number of curriculum areas needed further development to ensure that knowledge builds in a consistently sequenced way from Nursery through to Year 6.

What we are doing

Since the inspection, we have:

  • Continued to embed and strengthen our new curriculum, ensuring that subject leaders have clear progression maps from EYFS to KS2.

  • Developed assessment systems that allow us to check children’s recall and understanding more effectively in the foundation subjects.

  • Built in regular subject reviews, so leaders, governors and staff can evaluate impact and share best practice.
